League of Legends - Sejuani vs Olaf by Dark-Emissary League of Legends - Sejuani vs Olaf by Dark-Emissary
My entry for the 'Preseason 3 Digi-art Throwdown' contest. (I'm gonna need some "glhf's" =P)
And now that it's past deadline for the entries, I can finally share it here.

The criteria was to picture one or more of ones favorite champions preparing for League Season 3 with some of the new items introduced during the preseason.
I picked Sejuani and Olaf, and figured that the best way to prepare for combat would be through combat.
If you don't play the game, there's no point for me to point out the items, and if you do play, I trust that you can spot them yourselves. (Yes, I'm too lazy)

I turned out to be quite a big project, but I learned alot from experimenting on it, and I think it turned out pretty good.

Characters, items, etc. belongs to Riot Games
Artwork belongs to myself. (Though Riot Games has the permission to use it accordingly to the contest- and fanart rules)

Enjoy! And feel free to leave a comment!

First off. This is awesome. Gah. I really need to practice on making full pieces like this. ;-;
Second. You have really gotten a knack for painting metals and ice. The shine and reflective surface. It's quite fantastic.
Third. She must be freezing.

re-First. Thank you. ^^ And yes. Yes you do! Full pieces not only look good in your gallery and portfolio, it's also really good practice. :D
re-Second. I try. I really love the high reflections of ice and metal and they include a lot of heavy contrast that're just fun to paint. ^^
re-Third. Norse and viking characters are basically nude in snow. Apparently that doesn't effect them. xD I'm from the actual Norse, and I know I wouldn't be able to do that, so it's pretty messed up. xP

You are finally done!! It's lovely to see how the picture has evolve from the sketchy WIP stage to the polished, colored state.

Once again, I will have to repeat what I say before: the dynamic poses are absolutely fantastic! And I love the perspective that you are using in the picture! You even paid attention to the fact that the creature bowed slightly to allow its rider leverage at hitting her opponent. :)

Thank you! :D
I had a lot of fun with this, and tested a lot of new techniques on it. ^^
I tried to clearly seperate foreground, middleground and background, and I studied the actual videogame models to get a realistic feel at their movement.
Tested out some new painting techniques and touch ups as well.
And as with Skadi, I just have fun painting ice. =P
I'm glad you like it. ^^

Sejuani and Olaf battling together <3 I love it :D I totally love the pose and expression of Olaf but I would have personally loved to see Sejuani hiding more behind that runic bulwark. But I really really love it anyway! Good luck with the contest :D

Thank you!

I tried to keep them pretty true to how they are in-game, so I'm thinking there's 'reckless swing' coming from Olaf. I actually tried to add the lightning, but it was kind of misfit from this angle.
And yeah, I could've hidden some items inside the runic bulwark, but I didn't want her to look overloaden with items. =P
But thanks alot for the feedback! :D
